After 7 years as a Partner in corporate law in London and Paris, I risked it all to buy Burgh Island in South Devon.
That was in 2001, this is now…
I’ve spent over 20 years pouring energy and ideas into my two successful hotels. Now, I’m looking to bring my experience to others in the industry.
You will get a flavour for my projects from the lookbooks, but it’s always better to talk.
Get in touch, and tell me about your goals!
Guest Journey
Fundamental to your business is your understanding and design of your guest journey. This is your ‘mission statement’ if you like, which will inform every decision you make. It needs to be understood and embraced by all of your staff, in every department. From website, through booking to check in and out - we’ll be looking at what makes your hotel different, and why your guest books, not just for the first time but repeatedly. We’ll break this down and scrutinise each step.
Interior Design and Flow
I have created some exceptional interiors. They have one thing in common; they respect the building, drawing from its history and putting together an eclectic mix of antique and modern in a way that invites conversation.
I can provide hands on assistance in sourcing heuristic pieces, or we can work on an outline brief for your own contacts to pursue.
Branding and Narrative
I want you to end up with a coherent story, that is accessible to your guests and staff. The story is about your hotel, why it exists, what it offers that most other hotels do not. It’s a story that will filter through the subconscious and unify every tiny aspect of the business. That story will be held in the collective mind of the people who work in your business and deliver your perfect service, every day.
The story needs words, of course. But it’s about your colour palette, font, day to day communication style, the quality and content of your images, socials, the thread count on the linen, lighting zones, the menus, and so much more. Every detail makes up the healthy eco structure of a successful hotel.
The Lookbooks
I haven’t labelled or explained the lookbooks. They are a short composition of the 1,000s of professional images I have taken of my work, and of the people who make my businesses possible: the staff, the guests and the wider audience.
Please scroll through, note what catches your eye - we can use this as a basis for our initial discussions. Because I have plenty to say about each image.
